Tech News: The New CRM Release of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Has Tremendous Offerings

With the recent release of Microsoft Dynamics 365, user experience, customer and organizational insights, sales and marketing, have been incorporated into a highly extensible platform.

The version 9 of Microsoft’s Dynamics 365 Customer engagement release which was formerly known Dynamics CRM has been released with great enhancements. Some of these new capabilities include a new user interface (UI), new SMB CRM sales and marketing suite, and a highly componentized platform design. Let us dig in to some of the most interesting features of this new release.

1. Unified User Interface

This new user interface is all about enhancing look and feel. It reduces white spaces and incorporates additional styling, such as uniform spacing, page borders, text wrapping, field control styling, and color themes. It follows the responsive design facilitating write once, deploy anywhere reusability for both online and offline operations, and adapts well across platforms and devices.

2. A Single Activity Timeline

Posts, activities, and notes which were displayed by tabs on the social pane have been replaced by a single timeline view. The enhanced activity timeline displays activity fields for each activity type. It also displays changes for a record since it was last accessed.

3. Powerful Customer & Organizational Insights

With the inculcation of machine learning and algorithms, predictive scoring, forecasts, and segmentation CRM software has tremendously transformed from a data entry tool to information delivery system.

To regulate user licensing and license types based on actual software utilization, organizational insights are provided such as user adoption, software utilization, error-history, data storage, plug-ins, and more.

4. Coexistence of Online & Offline Operation

With this release, there is a coexistence of offline-enabled and online-only apps. CRM modules are made available for users of mobile app to select offline operations. Mobile CRM incorporates more custom controls and the ability to switch forms.

5. Virtualization of Data

It facilitates integration and display of data residing in external systems as CRM entities. This is achieved using web services. This virtualization replicates data to include in Dynamics 365 work stream like business process automation.

6. Code Separation to Remove Inter-module Dependencies

This release has evolved the CRM system from a monolithic platform to a more componentized application, including sales, services and marketing capabilities. This platform and application code separation removes some inter-module dependencies and facilitates more focused test cycles and more narrow release cycles i.e. promotion cycles and hot fixes.

For Microsoft, these are some of the investment priorities with the new release. Enhancing user experience, customer and organizational insights, sales and marketing, and a highly extensible platform, Microsoft additionally has been on course to integrate CRM and ERP into one fully integrated enterprise software suite.
