Tech News: Microsoft Azure Now Has Apache Spark, Cassandra and MariaDB While Visual Studio Has AI Tools

Microsoft Azure Cloud Now Incorporates Apache Spark, Cassandra and MariaDB

To make the life of developers and data analysts easier, Microsoft has recently added a number of popular third-party platforms to its Azure cloud.

Azure now incorporates new capabilities some of which are enumerated as follows:

    • Developers will now get valuable insights out of enterprise data. This will be facilitated by a beta version of Apache Spark cluster computing platform called Azure Databricks.

    • An API that would run the Apache Cassandra NoSQL database as a service on the Azure platform. This service is exclusively utilized by a globally distributed database called Microsoft’s Azure Cosmos DB. Not only this, developers will be able to use the Cassandra tools which they are already familiar with.

  • A beta version service that will configure the devops pipeline called the Azure Devops Projects. Automating build and release pipelines, Azure Devops Projects will also let developers set up the Git repositories.

The Recent Launch of a Beta Version of Microsoft’s Visual Studio Tools for AI

Microsoft’s signature Visual Studio 2017 IDE has recently incorporated deep learning models into applications that will make the lives of developers and data scientists much easier. This is a beta version of Visual Studio Tools for AI which is an extension to Visual Studio 2017 IDE. Visual Studio Tools for AI will back up deep learning frameworks, Microsoft’s Cognitive Toolkit and Google’s TensorFlow.

Additionally, Microsoft will offer AI support for the Visual Studio Code editor through the cross-platform extension that will be called Visual Studio Code Tools for AI.

There are many other new tools for AI from Microsoft which includes the following:

    • The beta version of Azure IoT Edge cloud service. This will facilitate deploying intelligence to IoT devices.

    • Azure Machine Learning Update that will integrate Azure IoT Edge. This will offer support for model deployment on Apple’s Core ML machine learning platform for iOS devices. Developers will be able to train models and ensure deployment over edge devices.

  • The beta version of Azure SQL Database Machine Learning Service. This will offer the support for R language-based learning models inside the SQL Database.
